Teaching Appraisal Five

Today Ella Parker observed my junior mathematics class, 10P.
Ella gave me some great advice in her feedback and although this appraisal was only conducted recently I have already began integrating this advice into my teaching of not only 10P, but all of my other classes as well. One thing I occasionally become aware of is that I am constantly battling the noise levels of my classroom with my own loud voice. As Ella suggested when the teacher is being loud it tends to invite the class to respond back in a noisy manner. Controlling my tone and pitch is something that I need to become a lot more aware of when I am teaching and have put reminders in my lesson diary about this so that I can start to change my habits next term. Another area for improvement is positively framing how I approach students who may be off-task or acting in a way that is unwanted. Ella has given me some good examples to work with and I will have more opportunity to work on this next term.
Due to this appraisal being conducted quite late in the term I have only had a couple of periods to put to practice some of the advice I was given. I will be working on this next term and will make a better reflection upon doing so.
